Do I need Planning Permission for a log cabin?

As a general rule you do not require planning permission for our log cabins, as long as they meet the following rules

• 1.   Log cabins that are less than 20 square meters; the cabin must be sited at least 5m away from the main property and not between the property and the road.
• 2.   The size of the log cabin must not exceed 50% of the size of the land surrounding the property.
• 3.   The log cabin must not go beyond a height of 4m – (All of our Log Cabins not exceed 4m in height)
• 4.   When the Log Cabin is between 20-30 square metres it must be positioned 1m away from all adjoining property or boundary. 
• 5.   It is not for use in connection with running a business.
• 6.   It is for the sole use of the house occupants.
• 7.   Your house is not a listed building.

If you live in the below areas different regulations might apply

•          Conservation Area
•          National Park,
•          Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
•          The Broads

It is always best to contact your Local Planning Office just for clarification as rules do change and they will be able to advise you.

It is your responsibility to check with your Local Planning Office before you place an order.

Another thing we also recommend you do is to let your neighbors know that you are planning to put a Log cabin in your garden, its better to ensure they have no objections as you do not want to full out with them.
